Sprouts are raw food. They have live enzymes in them and they're very nutritious to eat. During the sprouting process, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and enzymes are produced at an incredible rate. Vitamin content at least triples with sprouting. In wheat, vitamin B-complex and vitamin C increase by 600%. I was very excited to learn about sprouting. It's a great way to provide your family with the vitamins and nutrients in case you can't get fresh fruits and vegetables. A GREAT FOOD STORAGE ITEM.
I started with Alfalfa-Plus mix on one side of my sprouting box and the Pro-Vita mix on the other.
Place the lid on the box and set it somewhere on your counter.
This is day one, you can see that they are getting some spouts going already.
These next two pictures are day two. Looking Good!!
This was day three, the warmer the kitchen or area where you are sprouting the faster they will sprout.
I started eating them at day 3.
You can use them in soups, breads, sandwiches, salads, plain or what ever you can think of that might sound good to you.
I've attached a file for you to download on sprouting "A Basic Guide To Sprouting Seeds and Grain" it will give you more information on this process along with a sprouting table. Have Fun.
P.S. If you don't have a sprouting box the basic guide has instructions on sprouting from a jar.P.P.S. Ok I can't see a place to download a document. E-mail or call me and I'll get it to you. Janeen
Thanks for the tips and pictures! Where did you get your sprouting box?
ReplyDeleteFrom Kitchen Kneads in Ogden, I love that store. I think you could get one on Amazon also but I haven't checked.
